Bujinkan King Dōjō

The Bujinkan King Dōjō (武神館 キング 道場) is a branch dōjō of the Bujinkan Hombu Dōjō (武神館 本部 道場) Headquarters in Japan.

The dōjō provides high level of instruction (beginners to advanced) in traditional Japanese martial arts (Koryū Budō 古流武道).

Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu 武神館 武道 体術 is an effective traditional Japanese martial art and self-defence system, headed by the famed  Hatsumi Masaaki Sōke (lineal head of nine Bugei 武芸 and Ninpō 忍法 traditions  / Ryūha 流派).

The techniques include:-

Jūnan taisō 柔軟体操  – Stretching & conditioning exercises

Dakentaijutsu 打拳体術  – Striking:

  • Hiken Jū-roppō 秘拳十六法 (sixteen secret fists)
  • Kyūsho 急所 (vital points)

Jūtaijutsu 柔体術 – Grappling:

  • Gyaku waza 逆技 (joint locking)
  • Nage waza 投げ技 (throwing)
  • Shime waza 絞技 (strangles)                                                                              

Josei Goshin-jutsu 女性護身術 – Women’s self-defence art                                           

Happō Hikejutsu 八法秘剣術 – Weapons incl.:

  • Biken (秘剣) (secret sword) incl. Katana (刀) & Tachi (太刀),
  • Kodachi (小太刀) & Tantō (短刀)
  • Rokushakubō (六尺棒), Jō (杖) & Hanbō (半棒)
  • Yari (槍) Naginata (薙刀) & Bisentō (眉尖刀)
  • Jutte (十手) & Tessen (鉄扇)

The Bujinkan King Dōjō’s Chief Instructor (Dōjō-chō 道場長) is Peter King.

  • He has been a personal student of Hatsumi Sōke for 35 years and has trained with him regularly throughout that period of time.
  • In 2014, he received ‘Dai-Shihan’ 大師範 (Senior Master Teacher) title from Hatsumi Sōke.
  • He is ranked as Kūgyō Menkyo (空行免許) / Jū-godan 拾五段 (15th Dan) by Hatsumi Sōke.
  • Peter passed the Godan 五段 (5th Dan) test in 1987 and was awarded ‘Shidoshi’ 士道師 (teacher) title and the Bujinkan ‘Gold Medal’ by Hatsumi Sōke.
  • In the 1990s, Hatsumi Sōke designated Peter as the Shibu-chō (支部長), or Branch Head for the United Kingdom.
  • In 1991, Peter received a ‘Bravery Award’ for “Disarming a dangerous criminal armed with a machete”.
  • In 2003, Peter received  ‘Menkyo Kaiden’ 免許皆伝 (full teaching licence) in the Amatsu Tatara Hichibuku Goshinjutsu 天津 蹈鞴 秘致武九護身術 health system from Hatsumi Sōke.
  • In 2010, he received the ‘Bufu Ikkan Sho’ 武風一貫 award from Hatsumi Sōke (which is only the 3rd time that it has been awarded).
  • In 2012, Peter received the’Bujinkan Dōjō Shitenno’ 武神館 武道 四天王 (‘Guardian of the Bujinkan Dojo’) award from Hatsumi Sōke.
  • Peter has run the Bujinkan King Dojo in Croydon, London for 33 years and has also taught internationally for many years.
  • Peter is one of the few visiting instructors that Hatsumi Sensei has asked to teach classes at the Bujinkan Hombu Dōjō 武神 館本部道場 (Japanese HQ).
